Do’s and Don’ts
Before you send an encouraging note to one of our missionaries on the field, please read the following EMAIL Do’s and Don’ts.
Do write encouraging notes, such as “We love you and pray for you daily” and not “It must be horrible living in Congo! How do you do it?
Do be brief Don’t write one letter and send it to all the missionaries—be personal.
Don’t send attachments unless you have checked with the missionary first.
Don’t send them junk mail, forwards, etc. E-mail can be slow in other countries. (Keep in mind that many people have their email address.)
Do carefully word your e-mail. E-mail can be read by others. Be aware that in some countries Christians are unwelcome. When writing to a missionary in this kind of situation, avoid using obvious words associated with Christianity. For example: Consider using ‘Father’ instead of ‘God,’ and ‘the team’ instead of ‘the missionaries.’
Corresponding with a missionary on the field can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do, both for the missionary and for you! Choose someone, and then send an e-mail TODAY!
