Valley Forge Baptist Temple began in the heart of Pastor Scott Wendal, soon after he was called into the ministry. After completing his education at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, Pastor Wendal completed a three-year internship at his home church, Fairfax Baptist Temple in Virginia. He then came to the Valley Forge area in July of 1984 to begin Valley Forge Baptist Temple.

Our first service was held on July 29, 1984, in the Upper Merion Middle School in King of Prussia. We later chartered in January 13, 1985. The steadily climbing attendance made it evident that we needed a building of our own to accommodate our growing congregation. Our current property, located at the corner of Black Rock Rd and PA 113, was purchased, and we held our first service on December 3, 1989. On that day, the church attendance doubled from 90 to 180!
The Lord continued to work in the hearts of our church family, and our congregation continued to grow. After two years of holding double Sunday-morning services, we built a new 32,000sq/ft aditorium, nursury and office wing and started holding services in the new facility in November 1996. As the Lord continued to bless the ministry and work in hearts of our church family, additional classrooms were built in order to reach more individuals and families for Christ. In 2001 we completed a classroom addition which allowed our ministry to expand.
One of the growing ministries of our church as been the Academy (est. 1991) guided by Administrator Lois Rall. The expanding ministries and increased attendance also necessitated the growth of our pastoral staff. In 1994 Pastor Aylestock joined VFBT, Pastor Lamar Eifert in 1998, and Pastor Ron Coulton in 2002. In 2003 Greg Joyner joined our staff as a full-time pastoral intern.
In the ensuing years, spiritual and numerical growth have steadily continued. The years have witnessed a panorama of the miracles of God’s grace and blessing. Multitudes have come to know Christ and follow Him, and God has blessed us with many joys and friendships along the way.
